Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
