Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In high empyrean 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And not known my account! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
