Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
