Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
