Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
