Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
