Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
