Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
