The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 Pollution shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked around, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Burning the skins! 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
