The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Arise and warn, 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
