The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 stay away from sins 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
