The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
