The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 thy robes purify 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
