The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
