The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
