Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the sinners. 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
