Nay! By the moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
