Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation. 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
