Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
