Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
