Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are joined, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith. 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
