The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
