The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
