The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
