The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
