The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
