The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
