The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
