The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
