The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
