The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
