The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
