The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
