The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
