The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
