The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
