The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
