The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
