The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
