The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
