The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
