The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
