The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
