The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
