The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
