The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
