The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 While eyes are downcast 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
