The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
