The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
