The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
